In the 1950's a coil coating plant was founded in northeast Ohio, close to major highways, railroads and steel mills. For most of its history, this coating and slitting operation prospered as a division of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel.

In 2001, we were spun off from Wheeling-Pittsburgh, and entered a period of transition, eventually becoming part of the Handy & Harman family of companies.

In 2003, we changed our name from Pittsburgh-Canfield to Canfield Metal Coating Corporation, and began to function virtually autonomously. We became a company of entrepreneurs, determined to make the changes that would allow CMC to thrive.

Our core values are integrity, respect, and excellence. These core values guide our decisionmaking, and have been vital to our success. We adopted "Together: Serving our Customers" as our corporate motto.
